Here’s a bunch of websites that I use to make my forecasts and such. Every website listed here is completely free to use. I don’t know how much Ads are on what sites because I use Adblock Plus (you pretty much have to to make Wunderground usable). Without further ado, here goes.
Stuff to Nowcast
- Current MU Weather + webcam
- GOES-EAST via NASA’s Earth Science Office
- NexSat from the Naval Research Lab (NRL)
- RAP Real-Time Weather (Radar/Sat/Models/Upper Air/more)
- Central PA Radar at Wunderground with the settings I use
- AccuWeather Winter Mosaic – PA Large-sized Loop
- StrikeStarUS – FREE lightning data (Note: this is a composite of personal lightning detectors across the US in which coverage varies)
Models
- NCEP Model Time-Series for KMDT (closest point to Millersville) via CoolWx.com
- NCEP NAM/GFS P-TYPE forecasts via CoolWx.com
- NAO image (.gif) via Climate Prediction Center (CPC)
- Meteostar GFS Viewer (my favorite)
- Lots of good stuff, including NAM vs. GFS viewer
- PSU e-WALL
- Current NCEP Model Production status
Other weather sites
- Hydrometeorological Prediction Center (HPC)
- Storm Prediction Center (SPC)
- NOAA’s National Digital Forecast Database (NDFD)- not exactly the same as when you type in your zip code on weather.gov
- Henry Margusity’s weather blog at AccuWeather
- Weather Forums at AccuWeather
